| About Dennis A. Ferdon
Dennis
A. Ferdon has represented thousands of injured people since
1985, when he graduated from law school and began to practice
law in Norwich, Connecticut. He has handled all types of
personal injury cases, including wrongful death claims, motor
vehicle accidents, workers' compensation claims, product
liability and medical malpractice claims, and slips and falls.
Dennis prides himself on providing excellent legal services to
his clients, regardless of the severity of their injury or the
magnitude of their claim. He has resolved cases for tragically
injured clients for millions of dollars and for slightly injured
people for thousands of dollars.
Dennis attended Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut,
on a partial baseball scholarship. He graduated in 1976. He
worked for several major insurance companies as a licensed
casualty claims adjuster from 1976 through 1985.
Dennis did not like the inhumane manner in which injured victims
of accidents were treated by the insurance companies for which
he worked. In 1979, he decided to go to law school, hoping to
help people make claims against insurance companies after he
graduated. Dennis worked full-time during the day and attended
evening classes. He graduated with honors from the University of
Connecticut School of Law, evening division in 1985. In 1980, he
received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in the
study of torts, the area of law related to representing injured
people.
Dennis thoroughly prepares every case for trial. His
thoroughness often results in obtaining a favorable settlement
before trial. In those cases which cannot be settled, Dennis'
meticulous preparation and honest approach in the courtroom have
produced many outstanding verdicts.

Dennis believes in giving back to the community and educating
his support staff and other lawyers. He has been a faculty
member at Huntington Institute, teaching paralegal studies since
1987. He has lectured at the University of Connecticut, Avery
Point, on paralegal studies. Dennis has been asked by the
Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association to lecture to fellow trial
lawyers on the subjects of workers' compensation, uninsured
motorist law, and evaluation of personal injury claims. He has
taught personal injury law at the People's Law School in Norwich
and New London since it was founded in 1988 by The Connecticut
Trial Lawyers Association. The People's Law School is open to
all adults, regardless of educational background. Classes are
held once a week for eight weeks. The classes introduce the
students to the court system and the areas of law they most
commonly encounter.
Dennis published the supplement to a textbook entitled, How
Insurance Companies Value Claims from 1995 through 1997. The
text, published by James Publishing Company is a manual for
lawyers on how to obtain fair settlements for their personal
injury clients. He also published Tort Implications of American
Indian Equal Justice Act, a paper he presented to the United
States Senate, Committee on Indian Affairs in 1998.
Dennis is a member of the Workers' Compensation Committee of The
Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. In 1996, he was appointed
by the Chief Administrative Judge of the Judicial Department as
an attorney-trial referee, arbitrator and special master. In
those capacities, Dennis presides over non-jury trials, issues
decisions and assists other attorneys to settle their cases
before trial.
Dennis is married and resides in East Lyme, Connecticut. He has
two daughters and coaches their softball and basketball teams.
Dennis also teaches Sunday School at St. David's Episcopal
Church.
